Thread Lift in Karachi: PDO Threads for Mild Lifting

A thread lift in Karachi uses thin absorbable threads placed under the skin to give a mild lift to the jawline and cheeks, without an operation. At Abdullah Clinics on Tariq Road, every plan begins with an in person assessment by one of our doctors.

Thread lift in short

A thread lift (also called a PDO thread lift or non surgical facelift) places absorbable threads under the skin. Smooth threads support skin quality, and barbed or cog threads lift tissue by a small amount. It is used for early jowls, softly sagging cheeks and a less defined jawline. Reviews report an immediate effect with mostly mild complications. Long term evidence is limited and the lift fades. Heavy laxity usually needs a different approach, which can include surgery.

The basics

What is a thread lift?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure in which fine, sterile threads are passed under the skin through small entry points. The threads most often used are made from polydioxanone (PDO), a material that the body gradually absorbs over months.

There are two broad types. Smooth threads are placed in a mesh or fan pattern and are mainly used to support skin quality and fine texture. Barbed or cog threads carry tiny barbs that grip the tissue, so the doctor can reposition it slightly upward.

Because the threads are absorbable, the lift is temporary. Reviews link older, non absorbable threads with more complications, so absorbable threads are the usual choice. A thread lift is a modest option for face lifting without surgery, and the change is smaller than an operation can give.

Who it suits

Who is a good candidate for a thread lift in Karachi?

Threads suit people with early changes who want a subtle result and a short recovery.

Jawline and cheek lift

Early jowls and a softening jawline, where barbed threads can lift the tissue by a small amount.

Mild midface sagging

Cheeks that have started to descend, which can leave a heavier look around the nasolabial folds.

Mild to moderate laxity

Skin that still has good elasticity and a manageable amount of looseness.

Skin quality support

Smooth threads are used for fine texture and a firmer feel in selected areas.

People who prefer no surgery

Patients who want a non surgical facelift option and understand the lift is modest.

When threads may not be the right fit. Heavy sagging, a lot of loose skin, deep folds and marked volume loss usually need a different approach, and a surgical facelift may give a stronger result. Volume loss often responds better to dermal fillers, gradual skin tightening to HIFU, and a heavy or drooping brow to an eyebrow lift. Studies also link older age with more complications, so your doctor weighs your age and skin carefully.
What to expect

How a thread lift works, step by step

The length of the visit depends on the plan your doctor agrees with you.

  1. Consultation

A doctor examines your face, reviews your history, medicines and goals, and explains the risks and limits of threads.

  2. Planning and marking

Your face is marked to show where the threads will sit, and the type and number of threads are chosen for your anatomy.

  3. Cleansing and comfort

The skin is cleansed, and your doctor uses the comfort measures they judge suitable for you.

  4. Thread placement

Absorbable threads are passed under the skin through fine entry points, then positioned to lift or support the tissue.

  5. Checking the result

The doctor checks shape and symmetry and adjusts if needed.

  6. Aftercare

You receive clear written advice on what to do, what to avoid and when to contact the clinic.

Recovery and results

Thread lift results and how long they last

  • Day 0 to 3

Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common. The face can feel tight and pull when you smile or chew. You may look more lifted than the final result.

  • Day 4 to 14

Swelling and bruising fade. Small dimples or unevenness can settle as the tissue relaxes.

  • Week 2 to 6

The face settles and you can judge the real lift.

  • Month 2 to 6

The lifting effect may begin to soften. Pooled data show satisfaction falling from about 98 percent straight after treatment to about 88 percent at six months.

  • Beyond 6 months

Published follow up reaches two years at the longest. No reliable single figure exists, so your doctor will discuss a repeat plan if you want one.

Individual results vary. The duration depends on age, skin quality, the thread type and number, and technique. No treatment can promise a specific outcome.

The research

What does the evidence say about thread lifts?

A 2025 systematic review in Dermatologic Surgery covered 12 studies and 818 patients, mostly using PDO threads. It concluded that thread lifts are effective straight after treatment in suitable patients and that the risk of dangerous complications is low. It noted that long term efficacy data are lacking and that follow up reached two years at the longest.

A 2021 meta analysis in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery pooled 26 studies. It found swelling in about 35 percent of patients, skin dimpling in about 10 percent, numbness or tingling in about 6 percent, visible or palpable threads in about 4 percent, and infection in about 2 percent. Older patients had more dimpling and infection, and the authors advised telling patients that the effect may not last.

A 2025 preprint meta analysis of 26 studies reported bruising in about 26 percent, pain in about 11 percent and dimpling or asymmetry in about 7 percent, with high variation between studies. A 2026 multicentre cohort in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery followed 2,000 PDO cases and reported overall complications in 12.4 percent, with risk rising as thread count and patient age increased.

On benefit, a small 2025 randomised trial in Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum (22 patients) found that early gains in midface volume and tissue displacement had diminished by 60 days. It is a small, short study.

What this means for you: the evidence is moderate in quality, with small studies and limited long term follow up. Threads can give a mild, visible lift for some people, complications are usually minor and temporary, and the result is modest.

Pricing

Thread lift cost in Karachi

Thread lift prices are set per plan, because every face needs a different approach. At Abdullah Clinics you receive a clear written price after your consultation, so you know the full cost before you agree to treatment. The main factors are:

Type of threads

Smooth and barbed threads, and different materials, are chosen for different goals.

Number of threads

More threads take more time, and studies link higher thread counts with more complications, so more is not always better.

Areas treated

Jawline, cheeks, neck and brow each need different planning.

Be cautious of very low advertised prices for thread lifts. The threads used, sterile technique and the doctor who places them all affect your safety and result.

Questions answered

Thread lift in Karachi: frequently asked questions

What is a PDO thread lift?

A PDO thread lift is a procedure in which thin, absorbable polydioxanone threads are placed under the skin to give a mild lift and, in some cases, to support skin quality. Smooth threads are used for skin quality, and barbed or cog threads grip the tissue for lifting. The threads dissolve over time, so the effect is modest and temporary.

How do I book a thread lift in Karachi?

Message Abdullah Clinics on WhatsApp or call 0333 358 8706, or use the contact page. The clinic is on Allama Iqbal Road off Tariq Road, PECHS Block 2, open Monday to Saturday from 12 PM to 8 PM. Please confirm your appointment time before visiting. A doctor assesses your face in person before any plan is agreed.

How much does a thread lift cost in Karachi?

The cost depends on the type and number of threads, the areas treated (jawline, cheeks, neck or brow), and whether the plan includes other treatments. At Abdullah Clinics you receive a clear written price after a doctor has assessed you, so you know the full cost before you decide. Message us on WhatsApp on 0333 358 8706.

Does a thread lift hurt?

Most people describe pressure, tugging and tenderness, and your doctor decides how to keep you comfortable. Soreness, tightness and a pulling feeling when you smile or chew are common for several days. Ask your doctor which pain relief is suitable for you.

Thread lift results and how long they last: what is realistic?

Results are modest and temporary, and the duration varies from person to person. Reviews report an immediate effect, with the longest follow up reaching two years, while one small trial found the early lifting effect had faded by 60 days. Satisfaction in pooled data fell between the first visit and six months. Your doctor will give you an honest estimate for your face.

Thread lift vs facelift: which is right for me?

A thread lift suits mild to moderate sagging, and a surgical facelift suits heavier laxity and excess skin. A thread lift is less invasive and has a shorter recovery. The lift is smaller and fades. A facelift gives a stronger and longer lasting change, with surgery, anaesthesia and a longer recovery. Your doctor will tell you honestly which fits your face.

Can a thread lift give a jawline and cheek lift?

Yes, a mild jawline and cheek lift is the most common reason people consider threads. Barbed threads can lift early jowls and softly reposition the cheeks. They cannot replace lost volume or remove loose skin, so results are modest. Your doctor will explain whether adding dermal fillers for volume suits you.

What are the thread lift side effects?

Common effects are swelling, bruising, tenderness and tightness. Reviews also report skin dimpling, asymmetry, numbness or tingling, and threads that can be felt or seen under the skin. Less often, a thread can come through the skin or the area can become infected. Most effects settle within days to weeks, and your doctor will explain the risks for your face before you decide.

Who should avoid a thread lift?

Treatment is usually delayed or avoided if you have an active infection or skin problem in the treatment area, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take blood thinning medicines, have a clotting disorder or a tendency to scar badly, or have heavy skin laxity. Older age is linked with more complications in studies, so careful selection matters. Share your full medical history with your doctor.

Bina surgery chehre ki lifting Karachi mein kaise hoti hai? (How is face lifting without surgery done in Karachi?)

Face lifting without surgery in Karachi is possible to a mild or moderate degree with options such as a thread lift, HIFU and dermal fillers. Each works differently, and none matches the result of a surgical facelift. Dr. Bushra Paracha, Dr. Sabahat and Dr. Abdul Khaliq assess your face in person and advise which option, or which combination, fits you.

Can a thread lift be combined with other treatments?

Yes, some patients combine threads with Botox, dermal fillers, Face PRP or HIFU, each used for a different concern. Muscle relaxers, volume and skin quality are not addressed by threads alone. Your doctor decides what is combined, in what order and how far apart, so the face has time to recover between treatments.

What is the downtime after a thread lift?

Most people have a few days of swelling, bruising and tightness, and the visible signs usually fade within one to two weeks. Many people return to normal activities within days, though this varies. Your doctor will advise how long to avoid strong facial movements and vigorous exercise.
