Hair transplant in PECHS in short

FUE and FUT hair transplant explained simply
Both methods move natural groups of one to four hairs called follicular units. They differ in how donor hair is collected.
FUE removes grafts one at a time with a tiny punch, leaving small dot scars across the donor area. It usually needs the donor hair trimmed short. Read about FUE in Karachi.
FUT removes a thin strip of scalp that a team divides into grafts. It leaves one linear scar and can supply many grafts in one session. Read about FUT in Karachi.
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery says there is no perfect candidate for either method. Our hair transplant in Karachi page compares them further.
Graft planning and the limits of your donor area
Your donor area is a limited supply. Surgeons plan grafts with future hair loss in mind. A bigger graft number is not always a better plan. A 2024 primer in Facial Plastic Surgery describes overharvesting as a serious FUE problem, linked to inexperience and to marketing of very high graft counts.
Hair transplant timeline: shedding first, growth later
- Day 0 to 7
Scabs, donor tenderness and forehead swelling are common.
- Week 2 to 8
Transplanted hairs commonly shed, and some existing hairs may shed too. The roots stay in place.
- Month 3 to 6
New hairs begin to appear, often fine and patchy at first.
- Month 6 to 12 and beyond
Hairs thicken. Many people see most of their result by about a year.
Individual results vary, and no clinic can promise a specific number of hairs or outcome.
What does the evidence say about hair transplant safety?
A 2026 review in Frontiers in Medicine describes FUE as generally safe, with overall complication rates of 1.2 to 4.7 percent in large series. Shock loss, the shedding of existing hair in the recipient area, was reported in 0.15 to 15 percent, usually starting 2 to 8 weeks after surgery with regrowth around 3 months. The authors note exact rates are uncertain.
A 2024 article in Facial Plastic Surgery found donor depletion to be the most common complication, and traced many problems to poor planning, limited training and delegation to unlicensed staff.
What this means for you: hair transplant is well established when trained people plan and perform it. Much of the evidence is expert opinion and observational data.
Hair transplant side effects and who should wait
Usually expected, short lived effects
- Tenderness and tightness in the donor area
- Scabs, redness and forehead swelling
- Temporary shedding of transplanted and nearby hairs
- Small bumps or folliculitis
Less common problems include infection and visible donor thinning from overharvesting. Tell your doctor if you smoke or have diabetes.
Call us, and who should wait
- Call the clinic if pain increases, redness spreads, pus appears or you develop a fever
- Seek urgent care for bleeding that will not stop with firm pressure
- Surgery may wait if you take blood thinners or have uncontrolled health conditions
